Clallam: Sheriff’s deputy placed on administrative leave

PORT ANGELES — A Clallam County Sheriff’s Department deputy has been put on administrative leave pending the results of an investigation, Sheriff Joe Martin said Wednesday.

But Detective Sgt. Dave Fontenot has not been accused of any illegal actions, said Undersheriff Steve Snover.

Both declined to discuss details of the investigation or Fontenot’s future with the department.

“It’s under investigation, and when something is under investigation we don’t release anything,” Martin said.

Fontenot was placed on administrative leave on Friday, Snover said.

Fontenot received three department commendations in 2004, including two group commendations, and shared the Patrol Group Award.
