HALLOWEEN — Kids can trick or treat in downtown PA, Sequim and PT on Friday

Fantasy creatures and little monsters will be rewarded with sweet treats in downtowns throughout the North Olympic Peninsula on Friday.

In Port Townsend, a parade at 4 p.m. will precede trick-or-treating at merchants on Water Street, Washington Street and streets in between.

Costumed participants will gather for the parade at Water and Adams streets near the Bank of America clock at 3:45 p.m. before they march down Water Street toward Polk Street.

The outing, sponsored by Port Townsend Main Street Program, is for kindergartners through sixth-graders. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Following the parade and trick-or-treat, a pizza party and costume contest are planned at The Tin Brick, 232 Taylor St.

A Halloween photo booth with Corinne Hill Photography will be in the Hastings Building, 839 Water St., from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. with a Halloween-themes backdrop. Prices for photos vary.

For more information, phone Mari Mullen, Main Street Program director, at 360-385-7911.

Sequim trick-or-treats

In Sequim, trick-or-treaters will be welcome at participating merchants along Sequim Avenue and Washington Street from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

A pumpkin will be in the window of each participating business.

The event is sponsored by the Sequim-Dungeness Chamber of Commerce.

Port Angeles treats

In Port Angeles, each downtown store bearing an orange sign on the door will offer treats to costumed children from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

A Halloween-themed backdrop will be erected at the Conrad Dyar Memorial Fountain at First and Laurel streets for photo opportunities.

The celebration is sponsored by the Port Angeles Downtown Association.

Dovetailing with the downtown trick or treating, Price Ford Lincoln, 3311 E. U.S. Highway 101, will offer Trunk or Treat from trunks full of candy decorated by 25 local businesses from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday.

“Come be a part of a fun, convenient, and safe, one stop-shop for your Halloween this year!” the auto dealership says.

White Crane Martial Arts at 129 W. First St. will host a free haunted house from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The Elks Naval Lodge at 131 E. First St. will host a child-friendly version of its haunted house from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.

About 150 to 200 people jumped into 49-degree water at Hollywood Beach on Jan. 1, 2025, for the 37th annual Polar Bear Dip. The air temperature was about 39 degrees, so it was a short, brisk dip that they did three times. There was a beach fire to warm the dippers afterward as well as two portable saunas in the parking lot. The event was sponsored by Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County under the leadership of organizer Dan Welden. Hot drinks, tasty muffins and a certificate for participants were available.
