FORKS — Police are looking for a possibly injured man who they say fled into the woods after a car chase and wreck off Bogachiel Way.
Forks resident Dillan Klepps, 24, was last seen at about 7 p.m. Friday running into the woods after crawling out of a badly damaged blue sedan, and officers have not heard of him being seen since, Forks Police Officer Brent Kempster said Sunday.
Damage to the car was severe, and typically people in cars with that level of damage can have serious injuries, Kempster said.
“We don’t know if he’s hurt. We couldn’t find him in the woods,” he said.
Klepps is described as 5-feet, 11-inches tall and weighing about 210 pounds with green eyes and brown hair.
Anyone who knows Klepps’ whereabouts is asked to call the Forks Police tips line at 360-374-5311.
He is also wanted on a Department of Corrections warrant, Kempster said, but he did not have further information on the warrant.
Klepps fled Friday from an officer who tried to stop him on Bogachiel Way for an expired car registration tag, Kempster said
“He took off at a high rate of speed westbound on Bogachiel Way,” he said.
Kempster said Klepps attempted to turn onto a logging road blocked by a heavy metal gate and hit it at full speed.
“It demolished the fence,” he said.
When Kempster arrived on the scene to assist, two witnesses told him they saw Klepps run across the road and into the woods.
A search of the woods in the area turned up no sign of Klepps, Kempster said.
The Forks Police Department was assisted by the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office and the LaPush Police Department.
