Meetings across the North Olympic Peninsula

Proposed tax levies, code amendments and 2025 budgets will be before Peninsula boards and commissions next week.

Clallam County Commissioners

The three Clallam County commissioners will conduct a public hearing regarding proposed property tax levies during their weekly business meeting Tuesday.

The commissioners’ work session, at 9 a.m. Monday, will preview items set for action at their formal meeting, which will start at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

The hybrid meetings will be in the county commissioners’ meeting room in the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.

Agenda items include:

• Several resolutions appointing, or reappointing, members of various volunteer commissions and boards.

• Discussion and next steps regarding Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program’s proposed acquisition of 342 acres adjacent to Hoko River State Park.

• An addendum to the agreement with the Forks Police Department to allow for administrative support or training requests.

• Discussion and next steps regarding the installation of human trafficking signage and help buttons, funded by a local Soroptimist club, in bathrooms in the county courthouse.

• The annual report from the Conservation Futures Advisory Board presented by Barbara Pappas and Enrique Valenzuela.

• An agreement with the state Department of Fish and Wildlife for $400,000 to assist with implementation of the McDonald Creek Fish Passage and Irrigation Project.

• Approval of the proposed Dungeness River Management Team membership roster.

• Resolution authorizing expenditures of $1,862,530 from the Hotel/Motel Tax Fund for 23 recommended 2025 Lodging Tax funding applications, including $1 million to the Olympic Peninsula Visitor Bureau, $200,000 to Field Arts & Events Hall, $100,000 to Clallam County Public W0rks and $90,000 to the Hurricane Ridge Winter Sports Education Foundation.

• Resolution authorizing the Board of Equalization to convene.

• A termination letter to Sequim Open Aire Market for $4,500 in American Rescue Plan Act funds that have not been utilized.

• An amended agreement with Habitat for Humanity of Clallam County regarding $500,000 in American Rescue Plan Act funds.

• Discussion of resolutions regarding budget revisions and supplemental appropriations and a public hearing regarding debatable budget emergencies to be considered on Dec. 10.

• Agreements with Public Works regarding 2022 and 2023 lodging tax funding for the Olympic Discovery Trail.

• An amended agreement with the Western Olympic Peninsula Betterment Association for an additional $20,000 in American Rescue Plan Act funding for Feeding 5000.

• A purchase order to acquire a Sentinel armored rescue vehicle with $381,783 in OPNET funding.
