EYE ON JEFFERSON: Commissioners to issue call for bids on Port Townsend field repair

The three Jefferson County commissioners are expected to issue a call for bids to repair the Memorial Field grandstand when they meet Monday.

The meeting will begin at 9 a.m. in commissioners’ chambers at the Jefferson County Courthouse, 1820 Jefferson St., Port Townsend.

Bids on the project, estimated to cost between $275,000 and $325,000, are expected to be open Nov. 3.

An optional site visit is planned at 11 a.m. Oct. 23.

The contract will be for replacement of the grandstand roof and windbreak, structural upgrades, electrical lighting and painting of the structure at 550 Washington St., which was closed early this year after it was determined to be unsafe.

This will be the second call for bids. Bids received in July exceeded the engineer’s estimate by too much, officials said.

Bids will be open Monday for supplying pursuit-rate sport utility vehicles.

A closed session to discuss collective bargain, professional negotiations or grievance or mediation proceedings is planned at 10:30 a.m.

Items on the consent agenda include:

â–  An agreement with the state Department of Transportation in regard to the Quinault South Shore Road mitigation project.

â–  A contract with Public Health of King County for breast, cervical and colon health services. The county would pay $1,558.
