2nd UPDATE — C-o-l-d temperatures could come overnight, Friday (WITH CLOSURE LIST)

North Olympic Peninsula residents will have c-o-l-d weather tonight and Friday as a mass of cold air moves in from Canada.

Drivers are warned to be cautious as snowy roads turn to ice, with sub-freezing temperatures forecast at least through Friday morning.

The National Weather Service said temperatures might drop to 19 degrees overnight and rise to a high of 32 on Friday.

The Weather Service said wind chill factors could make the temperature feel like 12 degrees tonight and 28 degrees on Friday.

Highs are normally in the high 40s this time of year.

The weather will be party sunny on Friday.

Temperatures will gradually climb into the high 30s on Saturday and into the mid-40s by Sunday.

The area’s snowstorm is over, though there might be additional flurries tonight, with a dusting of up to a half an inch in places.

Snow and icy roads may have been a factor in a number of serious traffic accidents across the Peninsula.

A head-on collision on snowy U.S. Highway 101 Wednesday at Morse Creek west of Port Angeles killed Hugh McLennan, 83, of Port Angeles. The other driver was treated at a hospital for neck and back injuries.

Snowfall ranged averaged from two to 12 inches across the various micro-climates of the Peninsula, enough for school districts to cancel or delay classes.

School districts will announce any delays or closures Friday morning.
