Sequim City Band plans holiday season

SEQUIM — After a recent concert that featured Five Star Brass, a brass quintet of the Navy Band Northwest, the Sequim City Band is taking a Thanksgiving break from rehearsals.

Weekly rehearsals will resume Wednesday.

The most recent public performance was the Sequim City Band playing traditional Christmas music Saturday afternoon to greet Santa Claus as he arrived in downtown Sequim as a kickoff of the Christmas season.

Saxologists, a city band saxophone quartet, will play at the Olympic Theatre Arts’ OFF Stage for the First Friday Art Walk in December. Look for upcoming announcements by the OTA or view its website at olympictheatrearts.org/OTA.

In addition to the Saxologists, the Sequim City Band will sponsor the Olympic Winds clarinet ensemble.

Both groups are available for holiday performances.

Leave a message at 360-207-4722 or contact the band through the contact button at www.sequimcity band.org for more information.

The band’s annual holiday concert is set for Sunday, Dec. 17, and the late winter concert is Sunday, March 11.

Both concerts start at 3 p.m. in the Sequim High School auditorium, 533 N. Sequim Ave.

The Sequim City Band invites wind instrument players and percussionists to explore joining the group.

Rehearsals are held at Swisher Hall, part of the James Center for the Performing Arts, 350 N. Blake Ave., Sequim.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for rehearsal. Leave a message for director Tyler Benedict at director@ sequimcityband.org.

For more information about the Sequim City Band, find the group on Facebook or visit www.sequimcityband.org.
