Free collage class set for Saturday in park

PORT TOWNSEND — Port Townsend School of the Arts will present a free family-friendly outdoors art event from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday.

The Art in the Park event will be in Chetzemoka Park, 900 Jackson St.

PtSA teaching artist Dana Weir will host an art demonstration on collage-making. It will be suitable for students in grades K-6, but older children also are welcome to join the impromptu class.

Weir will show plenty of examples and methods for collage-making, and complementary art kits (including assorted papers, glue sticks and markers) will be provided for participants to take home for continued art making and inspiration.

The event will be conducted following COVID-19 safety protocols including physical distancing and required masks.

Weir leads classes for adults and youth at Port Townsend School of the Arts and also teaches at Swan School in Port Townsend.

Her work has been exhibited in many invitational and juried shows in Oregon and Washington, most recently at the Northwind Arts Center and the PtSA Grover Gallery in Port Townsend, including “Encaustic,” a group show at PtSA Grover Gallery in March.

This event is made possible through the support of the D.V. and Ida J. McEachern Charitable Trust.
