Wreaths Across America set for Saturday

PORT ANGELES — The Michael Trebert chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will celebrate Wreaths Across America at 9 a.m. Saturday.

The ceremony will be at Mount Angeles Memorial Park, 45 Monroe Road, Port Angeles.

The ceremony will feature Teresa Bullock as guest speaker and will include the placement of eight ceremonial wreaths by local veterans, representing each branch of the military, along with a wreath for prisoners of war and those missing in action.

Bullock, a former U.S. Army soldier, is a National Service Officer and Sergeant of Arms for American Gold Star Mothers, Inc.

The ceremony also will include a Riderless Horse Salute, the playing of Taps and performances by bagpipers.

Mount Angeles, the largest cemetery in Clallam County, is one of more than 4,800 other sites across the nation that will host National Wreaths Across America Day.

This is the fifth year the Michael Trebert chapter has organized this ceremony. It has been involved in cleaning and preserving more than 200 veteran markers throughout the summer in preparation for it.

The chapter also will conduct public wreath-laying ceremonies at 10 a.m. at Dungeness Cemetery, 2153 Lotzgesell Road, Sequim; at 1 p.m. at the Gardiner Community Cemetery, 137 Gardiner Cemetery Road, Sequim; and at 1 p.m. at Sequim View Cemetery, 1505 Sequim-Dungeness Way, Sequim.
