PORT TOWNSEND — For one night only, Key City Public Theatre will present David Ives’ comedy, “Ancient History,” at the Alchemy Bistro and Wine Bar this coming Sunday.
Amy E. Sousa and Caleb Stengel star as Ruth and Jack, the quintessentially well-cultured couple. They both can hum the Mendelssohn Octet, know Marx Brothers quotes by heart, and even have developed a taste for punning in French. They find themselves to be the perfect match. But a particular discussion before Ruth’s 35th birthday party unearths some big differences lurking beneath the surface of their lustful frivolity.
All of this unfolds at Alchemy, 842 Washington St., over dinner at 6 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $48 per person for the four-course repast and show, drinks and tip not included.
In this story, Ruth and Jack’s struggle brings to light the crux of the matter: Can two people shed the trappings of their cultural differences and embrace the passion of the present — or will their love become ancient history?
