Chimacum and Quilcene schools plan a day of service from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday.
The local congregation of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is coordinating an effort with the Chimacum and Quilcene school districts to beautify school campus grounds in preparation for the start of school in September.
Volunteers are asked to clean walkways, do edging and trimming and maintenance of garden areas, spread bark, prune trees and shrubs, pressure-wash sidewalks and brick faces, paint and make minor repairs.
Participants should wear work clothes and bring a sack lunch or snacks. Gloves, rakes, shovels, push brooms, garden tools, wheel barrows, pruners, loppers, weed trimmers, pressure washers and hoses and ladders will be needed.
Water will be provided.
Although activities will kick off at 8 a.m. at each campus, volunteers may check in anytime between 8 a.m. and noon at Chimacum School, 91 West Valley Road, or Quilcene School, 294715 U.S. Highway 101.
