PORT ANGELES — One person suffered a broken leg today (Saturday) when a dump truck and a small pickup collided on U.S. Highway 101 in west Port Angeles.
Lt. Kevin Denton of the Port Angeles Fire Department said the driver and one passenger in the pickup were taken to Olympic Medical Center .
Port Angeles Deputy Police Chief Brian Smith said that one person was injured after the dump truck pulled across the highway and the pickup traveling westbound collided with it.
Denton would not provide the names of those involved, citing privacy law. Smith did not have the names. Hospitals will not provide information about medical conditions without names.
The driver of the dump truck was not injured, Denton said.
The wreck is under investigation by the Port Angeles Police Department.
The collision occurred in the westbound lane of the highway near Adventures Through Kayaking and Harbinger Winery at about 1 p.m., Denton said.
The wreck blocked both lanes of the highway for about an hour.
Medics extricated the injured pair from the pickup, which was pulling a trailer with small tractor.
Denton said he could not make out the make and model of the pickup because of severe damage to its front, side and rear.
“It was that bad,” he said.
Clallam County Fire District No. 2 assisted the Port Angeles Fire Department.
