Snubbed court appearance lands suspected serial burglar back in jail

PORT ANGELES — A Port Angeles man charged with multiple burglaries was back in jail Tuesday after failing to show up for court in June.

Sean Vince Della, 27, remained in the Clallam County jail Tuesday evening on $100,000 bail.

He had failed to show up for a court hearing on a potential resolution of eight charges related to a series of burglaries that took place in 2014 and early 2015, said Jesse Espinoza, Clallam County deputy prosecuting attorney.

“We almost had it resolved, then he didn’t show up,” Espinoza said.

Espinoza is the prosecutor assigned to Della’s case since charges were brought in February, after burglaries of several Port Angeles businesses.

The charges include three counts of second-degree burglary and single counts of first-degree theft, second-degree theft, third-degree theft, malicious mischief and second-degree possession of stolen property.

Della was released on bail after an earlier appearance and was scheduled for a court hearing June 23.

He did not appear for his court date, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Law enforcement officers located Della on Thursday and booked him into the Clallam County jail.

He will appear in court at 9 a.m. July 17 for a court hearing, Espinoza said.

After a lengthy investigation, Port Angeles police tied Della to burglaries that occurred Dec. 9 at Athlete’s Choice, 215 W. First St.; Jan. 31 at Sabai Thai restaurant, 903 W. Eighth St.; and Feb. 1 at Spotlight Tanning & Apparel, 715 E. First St.

Police collected cellphone and surveillance videos from the businesses and clothing retrieved from Della’s apartment as evidence.

Della was arrested Feb. 1 after the owner of Spotlight Tanning & Apparel and four others tracked him to a Lauridsen Boulevard apartment.
