FORKS — The Forks Library reading train will return at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 27.
A special train-themed storytime, activities, refreshments and free take-home books for children of all reading levels are planned at the library at 171 S. Forks Ave.
Activities are free.
The reading train was purchased by Friends of the Forks Library nearly seven years ago using funds donated by community members.
Since that time, the little wooden train has been a favorite place in which youngsters can sit, read, discover and learn, said Garrett Fevinger, spokesman for the North Olympic Library System, which oversees the Forks Library as well as public libraries in Port Angeles, Sequim and Clallam Bay.
Now, thanks to the financial support and volunteer efforts of the Forks Elks Lodge, the little train has a fresh coat of paint and several enhancements.
