PORT ANGELES — San Juan Airlines on Tuesday announced the addition of a fifth and sixth round-trip flight to Seattle, a senior-citizen discount and $49 fares on some flights beginning Friday.
The announcement comes one day after another airline, Kenmore Express, announced that it will also offer daily round-trip flights between William R. Fairchild International Airport and Seattle’s Boeing Field starting next month.
But San Juan Airlines president Clyde Carlson said Tuesday that San Juan’s fare incentive program, which is used on the company’s other routes, was planned long before Kenmore Express’ announcement.
“This has been in the works for 30 days, before Kenmore Express even said they were coming in,” Carlson said.
“The first time we heard about (Kenmore) was at the last Airline Task Force Committee meeting.”
San Juan Airlines began offering five round-trip flights daily between Port Angeles and Boeing Field on Jan. 7.
It replaced Horizon Air, which stopped Port Angeles service to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, citing low ridership and a $1.5 million annual loss.
