PORT ANGELES — Allan Goff, the city’s deputy director of recreation since February, resigned Friday to devote more time to private business interests.
City Public Works Director Glenn Cutler said Goff’s position would be filled part-time through December by Bill Sterling, a retired public works director volunteering on the western extension of Olympic Discovery Trail.
Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission Chairman Chuck Whidden said Wednesday that he had met with Sterling to discuss various issues.
Cutler said he is screening applications submitted for the position earlier this year and hopes to interview candidates at the end of October.
Goff couldn’t be reached for comment on Wednesday.
Goff’s Sept. 23 resignation letter to Cutler said he needed to devote more time to his property development corporation, “which is in various critical stages with four priority projects and others on the radar screen.”
Goff has lived for the past six years in Sequim, where he has been co-chairman of the Sequim Parks and Recreation board for the past five years.
