Port Angeles man charged after high-speed car chase

PORT ANGELES — A Port Angeles man has been charged with attempting to elude a pursuing police vehicle and four other crimes after he allegedly shot at a house and led authorities on a 120 mph car chase in Clallam and Jefferson counties.

Kylor Thomas Mackey, 19, will be arraigned in Clallam County Superior Court this coming Friday.

He was charged Thursday with single counts of attempting to elude a pursuing police vehicle, driving under the influence of alcohol, fourth-degree assault-domestic violence, third-degree malicious mischief-domestic violence and aiming or discharging a firearm.

He posted $5,000 bail Wednesday.

Clallam County sheriff’s deputies allege that Mackey shot at a residence at 363 John Jacobs Road east of Port Angeles after a domestic dispute with his girlfriend and a fight with his girlfriend’s brother late Monday night.

Deputies said in an arrest report that Mackey smashed his girlfriend’s vehicle with a post hole digger, shot a hole in the house with a .12-gauge shotgun and drove off with his girlfriend.

More than 120 mph

State Patrol troopers said Mackey was clocked at 75 mph on U.S. Highway 101 early Tuesday morning. That triggered a highway pursuit that reached speeds of more than 120 mph, troopers said.

Mackey was arrested after the vehicle he was driving lost control on Palo Alto Road, deputies said.

A portable breath test showed Mackey had a blood-alcohol level of 0.126 percent, deputies said.

The legal driving limit in Washington is 0.08 percent.
