PORT ANGELES — Two graphic designs by Port Angeles-based Laurel Black Design have been selected as winners in the 28th annual American Graphic Design and Advertising Competition.
The nationwide competition is a showcase for U.S. graphic design. Fewer than 30 percent of the tens of thousands of entries are selected as winners each year.
Laurel Black, owner of Laurel Black Design, received recognition for her 2012 designs for the Port of Port Angeles’ Olympic Composites Corridor and the Feiro Marine Life Center on City Pier in Port Angeles.
The Olympic Composites Corridor is a regional initiative spearheaded by the port last year and still ongoing.
“Laurel’s efforts were integral to the success of this initiative,” said Colleen McAleer, the port’s business-development director.
The Feiro logo is part of the marine life center’s rebranding to support future development plans.
“As a regionally significant marine life center, the Feiro needed a visual brand that supports its goals,” said Deborah Moriarty, Feiro director. “Our new logo will help make the case for our expansion plans.”
Laurel Black Design has won many other national and regional awards. It has provided design, communication and creative services to organizations and businesses since 1980.
