PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles Citizen Action Network — PA CAN — invites residents concerned about drug abuse’s effects in Clallam County to its next meeting at 6:30 p.m. tonight (Wednesday night).
The meeting, in the upstairs conference room at The Landing mall, 115 E. Railroad Ave., will address PA CAN’s project areas, including:
■ Planning for Port Angeles’ first Overdose Awareness Vigil, to start at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 31 at Civic Field, Fourth and Race streets.
■ Working with the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Olympic Peninsula to provide volunteer mentors and expanded after-school activities for children and teens.
■ Assisting Oxford House (www.OxfordHouse.org), a national network of homes for recovering addicts, which has six locations in Port Angeles and seeks housing in Sequim.
■ Researching and implementing a drug education program in local schools.

PA CAN meeting moderator Angie Gooding emphasizes that people from all sectors of the community are welcome at Wednesday’s meeting.
