PORT TOWNSEND — “River of Sky,” “A Love Song for Humanity,” “Jewels in Indra’s Web,” “Begin Again”: These are a few of the songs electric cellist Jami Sieber will offer in her concert this Sunday.
Sieber, who lived in the Northwest for many years, is returning to Port Townsend for the first time in more than a decade. She’ll play at the Madrona MindBody Institute at Fort Worden State Park, 200 Battery Way, at 7 p.m. Sunday; tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door.
With her music, Sieber said she seeks to give listeners “a sense of connection to the whole web of life . . . a feeling of calm and rejuvenation.
“Be prepared for something new,” she said, adding that the evening of cello, voice and poetry is made to open the heart.
A solo artist with a new CD, “Timeless,” Sieber is also known for past touring with singer-songwriter Charlie Murphy and with the pop-rock band Rumors of the Big Wave. She has been commissioned to compose for films including “Big Joy: The Adventures of James Broughton” and “Hope Is the Thing with Feathers,” and to write music for troupes such as the Facing East Dance Company.
