Peninsula: Walkling trust to provide $20,000 in grants

Five Peninsula groups have been selected to receive grants from the Ben and Myrtle Walkling Memorial Trust this year.

The five grants, which total $20,000, are:

* Boys and Girls Club of the Olympic Peninsula — The organization will receive $5,000 to remodel its kitchen and reshape its nutrition program at the club building in the Mount Angeles View Family Housing complex.

* Dungeness Valley Health and Wellness Clinic — The center will receive $5,000 to help fund free medical care for uninsured and under-insured residents of Sequim and the Dungeness Valley.

* Forks Abuse Program — The program will receive $2,500 to establish a fund and program to provide normal and routine provisions and gifts to children in domestic violence and sexual assault shelters.

* Port Angeles Association of Religious Communities Clinic — The clinic at 510 E. Park St., Port Angeles, will receive $2,500 to help pay for medical expenses for working uninsured residents.

* Tempest — The youth center at 535 E. First St., Port Angeles, will receive $5,000 to help fund full operations.
