PORT TOWNSEND — A traditional Teddy Bear Hike will take place at Fort Worden’s North Beach Park on Jan. 1.
Participants are asked to meet a few minutes before 10 a.m.
The walk, sponsored by Olympic Chapter of the Washington Native Plant Society, is free and open to all.
The walk is sociobotanical and is 1 to 3 miles long, depending on weather and route.
Traditionally, the group walks through Chinese Gardens and up into the park via Military Hill.

Newcomers’ lunch
SEQUIM — The Newcomers’ Club of the Olympic Peninsula will host its first luncheon of 2015 at the Cedars at Dungeness Legends Room, 1965 Woodcock Road, on Tuesday, Jan. 6.
Socializing begins at 11:30 a.m., followed by lunch and a special presentation on how to start off the new year by getting fit.
Jay Bryant, owner and operator of Sequim Anytime Fitness, will talk about fitness programs available through his facility.
Frank Pickering, chairman of the board of SARC, will talk about SARC, its pool and its changing role as a community athletic center.

Hospice to host series of ‘Living Alone’ classes
SEQUIM — Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County is offering an educational series for people facing the challenge of living alone after losing a loved one at Trinity United Methodist Church, 100 S. Blake Ave.
The Survivors’ Four-Week Workshop offers answers to everyday problems and provides resources for adapting.

■ Jan. 26, Cooking for One — Dr. Carol R. Vincent-Hall, N.D., and Marilyn Nelsen, Ph.D., present.

Veggie potluck set
PORT ANGELES — OlyPen Vegetarian Education Group will host their monthly Vegetarian Community Potluck at Renaissance, 401 E. Front St., at 3 p.m. Sunday.
Vegetarians, vegans or anyone curious about living a plant-based lifestyle are encouraged to bring their favorite plant-based recipes.
The group requests each dish include an ingredient list or recipe and that attendees bring their own utensils and plates.
