Forks: Rocketeers to take space ‘tourism’ vehicle on the road

The Rubicon, a 35-foot-high, sub-orbital “tourism” rocket that two Forks aerospace engineers hope to test launch off the coast next month, will be displayed this Sunday in Forks and Port Angeles.

Phillip Storm, president of the Space Transport Corp., which is based at Forks Industrial Park, said he and his partner, company Vice President Eric Meier, will show the rocket at:

* Forks Thrifty Mart parking lot in Forks on Sunday morning.

* Rite Aid drug store parking lot on Port Angeles’ South Lincoln Street that afternoon.

The Rubicon will be displayed with its capsule, engine assembly and seven engines in place.

The only thing missing, said Storm, will be the engines’ solid rocket fuel.

“We’re also talking with Museum of Flight and Westlake Park” to display the sub-orbital tourism vehicle at those Seattle locations, Storm said.

Experience Museum Project’s Science Fiction Museum in Seattle is also considering an exhibition, Storm said.

‘We’re keeping open all the avenues possible,” Storm said of the rocket, their attempt at developing a niche in a new space tourism industry.
