The Clallam County commissioners will be updated on longstanding litigation involving the environmental group Protect the Peninsula’s Future when they meet in closed-door executive session Tuesday before their regular meeting at 10 a.m.
The approximately 15-minute executive session will begin at 9 a.m. at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles, before the regular meeting in the commissioners’ board room (160).
Protect the Peninsula’s Future filed legal action against the county regarding the county’s protection of agricultural land in the early 2000s.
The matter is now before the state Growth Management Hearings Board.
No action is expected following the closed-door meeting.
Commissioners also will consider making appointments the Carlsborg and Crescent community advisory councils and the county Noxious Weed Control Board.
Commissioners also will meet at 9 a.m. Monday in the commissioners’ board room for their weekly work session.
They will discuss a proposed allocation of funding for homelessness-related resources and projects.
They also will discuss an agreement with the state Department of Commerce and U.S. Department of Justice for reimbursement of Olympic Peninsula Narcotics Enforcement Team (OPNET) activities.
The agreement will be considered for action on Tuesday.
Port Angeles city
At the Port Angeles City Council’s regular meeting Tuesday, council members will receive an update from Olympic National Park officials on the Paradise Fire, smoke from which was visible last week from the Hurricane Ridge Visitor Center.
The meeting begins at6 p.m. at City Hall, 321 E. Fifth St., Port Angeles.
It will be preceded by a special joint meeting at 4:30 p.m. at the same location with the Utility Advisory Committee on setting utility rates.
Council members will hear a review of the five-year utility rate plan the council established in 2014 and will discuss the possibility that rates will be reduced for water, wastewater and electric utilities.
At the regular meeting, city will make presentations on city support of downtown businesses during the ongoing combined sewer overflow construction project, the police department’s 2015 mid-year report and the Civic Field lighting project.
Public utility district
Clallam County Public Utility District commissioners will hear an update on the status of the Fairview water system on Monday.
The meeting will begin at 1:30 p.m. in the boardroom at the Port Angeles Main Office, located at 2431 E. U.S. Highway 101.
Charter review
The Clallam County Charter Review Commission will discus potential charter amendments for voters to consider in the November election when they meet Monday.
The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. in Room 160 at the Clallam County Courthouse.
Other agenda items include a report from legal counsel and a recommendation to the Board of County Commissioners on the reconveyance of public trust lands
Olympic Medical Center
Olympic Medical Center commissioners will consider awarding a contact for a new medical office building when they meet Tuesday.
The special meeting will be at 12:30 p.m. in Linkletter Hall in the basement of the hospital at 939 Caroline St.
The medical office building will be across the street from Olympic Medical Center.
