LAPUSH — The Quileute Days festival in LaPush was successful, and an up-and-coming national hip-hop artist drew big crowds to the tribe’s celebration Saturday night.
“It was excellent,” said Russell Brooks, events coordinator for the Quileute tribe.
Brooks said he didn’t know how many people showed up for the three-day event, but estimated that attendance was well into the thousands.
There were so many events going on at any one time and people were coming and going all three days, so it was difficult to estimate total attendance, he said.
“The fireworks show was fantastic,” he said.
The annual Quileute Days event celebrates the tribe’s cultural heritage and modern identity at its ancestral coastal home.
A misty rain dampened Saturday afternoon’s events but cleared up in time
for the evening’s headline events.
The SupaMan concert and the Mitch Factor comedy show were huge hits, Brooks said.
“The street was full,” he said.
SupaMan, a member of the Apsáalooke (Crow) Nation of Montana, performed on the Main Street Stage.
SupaMan, whose real name is Christian Takes Gun Parrish, was named MTV Artist of the Week on March 13.
