PORT ANGELES — United Way of Clallam County will allocate $100,000 in early learning grants and has scheduled a bidders’ conference for early next month.
Representatives of agencies applying for the grants are to attend a mandatory bidders’ conference from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, or from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 5.
Both will be in Linkletter Hall at Olympic Medical Center, 939 Caroline St.
The conference will include mandatory one-hour outcomes training.
Grant applications will be due no later than close of business Friday, Oct. 3.
A portion of United Way’s early learning grant funds will go to renew grants made last year.
United Way said successful grant applications must include specific plans to work on some or all of the following priorities:
■ Deliver an evidence-based or promising practice parenting course for parents/caregivers of children from birth to 5.
■ Increase the number of education and support programs in all geographic areas of the county.
■ Provide information on a child’s cognitive, physical, social and emotional development.
■ Support parent and caregiver access to relevant early learning materials.
■ Measure and report on outcomes
United Way kicked off the Great Beginnings grants in early learning programs in early 2012.
