BUSINESS: Port Townsend Main Street recognizes companies, leaders at gathering

PORT TOWNSEND — The Port Townsend Main Street program’s recent annual member and volunteer holiday party included a welcome from Main Street Executive Director Mari Mullen, Main Street news, board recognition and the awarding of Business, Volunteer and Collaborator of the Year awards.

Mullen thanked all those who had contributed to a successful year, including members, volunteers, tax incentive program contributors and partners such as the city, holiday sponsors and board and committee members.

She recognized the program’s standing Board of Directors and thanked outgoing board members Heather Dudley Nollette, Phil Christoffersen, Virginia Hillsberg, Tammi Rubert and Molly Klupfell.

Incoming 2015 board members were announced: Kevin Prime, the Bishop Victorian and Swan hotels; David Petro, the Ravenscroft Inn; Amy Smith, the Boiler Room; Christel Hildebrandt, the Uptown Pub; and Connie Segal, Glow Natural Skincare.

The inaugural Main Street Collaborator Award was presented to Daily Bird Pottery in 2013.

Smith and the Boiler Room were honored as the 2014 Collaborator of the Year.

Jacob Talamante and Labor Leaders were honored as 2014 Business Partners of the Year for their service over the past two years.

Board President Rosie Itti said that Labor Leaders has a positive attitude, a commitment to community service and works hard to juggle its schedule to help with Main Street’s needs.

The 2014 Volunteer of the Year award was given to Garnett Brooks for his volunteer service at Concerts on the Dock for the past two years.

Board Vice President Paul Rice said Brooks is always on time or early, hauls out the tables and chairs, watches out for underage enthusiasts in the beer garden, cleans up the spills and tucks it all away again with the crew.
