PORT ANGELES — The annual “Applause!” auction and dinner, the Port Angeles Symphony’s most important fundraiser of the year, is this Saturday.
“The Rhapsody Continues: Welcoming a New Era” will begin in the second-floor dining room at the Red Lion Hotel, 221 N. Lincoln St., at 6 p.m.
Tickets are $75 per person. Reservations are available by phoning the symphony office today (Friday) at 360-457-5579.
Arriving guests can enjoy wine and hors d’oeuvres and live music by an ensemble of players while they bid on silent auction items.
Dinner will soon follow, offering a choice of pan-seared salmon, grilled sirloin steak, Marsala chicken or vegetarian butternut squash ravioli.
Diners can bid on items during a live auction, and the winner of the Golden Ticket Raffle, another symphony fundraiser, will be announced during the live auction.
The winner of the Golden Ticket gets to take home any item from the live auction.
Prizes available
Packages to go up for bid include:
■ A seven-day Holland America cruise.
■ A weeklong stay at a five-star resort in New Orleans’ French Quarter with gift certificates to nearby restaurants.
■ A stay at the Apa Kabar Villas in Bali, Indonesia.
■ Trips to Victoria.
■ A winemaking package for five guests to serve on a blending panel to create the next vintage of Rhapsody in Red, a wine especially for the symphony, with Camaraderie Cellars winemaker Don Corson.
■ A concert on the patio at Camaraderie Cellars with wine and picnic fare.
■ A private tour of the new Nippon Paper Industries cogeneration facility for up to six guests.
“Seventy percent of our fundraising budget comes from this event,” said Mark Wendeborn, executive director of the Port Angeles Symphony.
In addition to its season of orchestral concerts, the 83-year-old Port Angeles Symphony presents six chamber concerts in Port Angeles and Sequim, the Adventures in Music educational program for students across Clallam County and the Peninsula-wide Young Artists Competitions every winter.
