PORT TOWNSEND — The Community Chorus of Port Townsend and East Jefferson County is set to welcome new singers — any experience level, age 16 and older — this Sunday at St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 1335 Blaine St.
No auditions are required to join the chorus, which is now rehearsing every Sunday evening for its spring concerts.
Men are especially encouraged to come sing.
Registration will start at 6 p.m. Sunday with rehearsal from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall, so singers should enter on the Harrison Street side of the church.
The annual chorus membership fee is $35.
To speed registration, newcomers can download a form at PTChorus.org and send it with the fee to Marj Iuro, P.O. Box 1974, Port Townsend, WA 98368.
Leslie Lewis, the spring director, will lead the ensemble in concerts on April 18 and 19.
These performances, both in Jefferson County, will commemorate the 100th anniversary of the start of World War I and the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II with songs from those eras and newer works reflecting the impact of the two conflicts. The music also honors the people who served their countries.
