GRESHAM, Ore. — Sequim graduate Jayson Brocklesby is in third place in the decathalon after the first day of the Mount Hood Multi Meet hosted by Mount Hood Community College.
The Olympic College sophomore racked up 3,448 points Thursday.
He ran the 100-meter in 11.05 seconds, a new personal record, and the 400 in 51.18 seconds.
His shot put went 37 feet and one-half inch, which Olympic coach Dan Dittmer said is probably another personal record.
Brocklesby’s long jump was 19-09.5, and his high jump was 6-04.75.
Brocklesby finishes the two-day meet, in which he is competing against athletes from Central Washington University, Western Oregon University, Warner Pacific College and various community college, today.
He will compete in the 110-meter high hurdles, 1,500-meter, discus, pole vault and javelin.
