Sequim: Brinnon woman found dead in whirlpool bath

A 41-year-old Brinnon woman drowned in a whirlpool bath at a Sequim motel early Tuesday morning. Police Chief Byron C. Nelson on Wednesday identified the woman as Rosemary Ann Orton.

Nelson said police and medic units were called to the Ramada Inn, 1095 E. Washington St., at 3:27 a.m. and found Mrs. Orton dead in the large tub.

“We investigated the death as a homicide until we got the results of an autopsy from the medical examiner,”‘ Nelson said.

The death was ruled accidental, Nelson said, with alcohol and the temperature of the hot tub being factors. Nelson said the medical examiner found Mrs. Orton had no previous medical conditions that might have contributed to her death.
