NEWS BRIEFS: Hilary Franz set to speak at fundraiser … and other items

PORT ANGELES — Hilary Franz will be the keynote speaker at the 2018 Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt Dinner on Saturday.

The fundraiser will be at Club Seven, 7 Cedars Casino, 270756 U.S. Highway 101, Sequim.

The annual fundraiser will start with a meet-and-greet from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. followed by the dinner program from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Franz is the 14th commissioner of public lands for the state of Washington.

Franz will speak on the topic of strengthening lands and rural communities.

A silent auction will run throughout the evening.

Second anniversary celebration

CARLSBORG — Blue Mountain Yoga, 803 Carlsborg Road, Suite D, will be celebrating its second anniversary from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday.

All classes are by donation, proceeds to support North Olympic Land Trust.

There will also be a raffle of items donated by local merchants to benefit the Land Trust.

The class schedule includes: 9 a.m., all levels Yoga; 10:15 a.m. family & kids Yoga; 11 a.m. gentle Yoga; 1 p.m., discover energy & balance with Aryuveda; 2:30 p.m., Introduction to Tai Chi; 4 p.m., gentle Yoga with Tibetan bowls and 6:30 p.m., crystal singing bowl meditation.

Unity speaker slated for PA this weekend

PORT ANGELES — George Lindamood will be the guest speaker at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at Unity in the Olympics, 2917 E. Myrtle Ave.

Lindamood’s topic is “Gurdjieff’s Search for the Miraculous.”

Sunday’s service begins at 10 a.m.
