Students to vie at State History Day

PORT ANGELES — Ten Stevens Middle School students competed in the Olympic Regional History Day held at Olympic College in Bremerton recently.

Stevens teacher Darren Milles reported that two students — Charlotte Hertel and Raven Sharpe — placed second in their division and will now compete at the Washington State History Day on May 2 at Green River Community College in Auburn.

Charlotte is an eighth-grade student; Raven is in seventh grade.

Keeping with the 2015 theme of “Leadership and Legacy in History,” the two presented a documentary on Nikola Tesla, an inventor and engineer best known for his contributions to the development of the alternating-current electrical system.
