PORT TOWNSEND — Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Bill Dietrich will come to the Port Townsend Library tonight to give a slide-illustrated program he calls “A Writer’s Life.”
Admission is free to the 7 p.m. presentation in the Library Learning Center, 1256 Lawrence St.
Dietrich, who lives near Anacortes, has written 20 books on Northwest environmental history and adventure fiction.
His latest is The North Cascades: Finding Beauty and Renewal in the Wild Nearby.
“He writes for all ages, and people love his books,” said adult services librarian Cris Wilson.
“His talk will especially appeal to all the aspiring fiction and nonfiction writers in our community.”
Dietrich recently published his first novel for young adults, The Murder of Adam and Eve, a time-travel adventure in which two teens travel to prehistoric Africa.
And last May, he released the latest in his Ethan Gage series, a story set in 19th-century Venice and the present-day Czech Republic titled The Three Emperors.
It involves Napoleon’s greatest victory, the Battle of Austerlitz, and an Indiana Jones-style hunt for a medieval automaton that can foretell the future.
In today’s program, Dietrich will discuss life in the modern publishing landscape, take questions from the audience and offer his books for sale.
