PORT ANGELES — One person and their golden retriever were rescued following a residential structure fire in the 1500 block of West Seventh Street in Port Angeles.
Firefighters were called about 10:43 p.m. Thursday and found the home filled with smoke, extending down to the floor level, the Port Angeles Fire Department stated in a press release.
One person had escaped to their balcony. Fire crews placed a ladder to the balcony and rescued both the individual and their dog, the fire department said.

Firefighters quickly contained and extinguished the blaze, the fire department said.
The cause was determined to be accidental, originating from a large bag of dog food stored on top of the stove, the fire department said.
The Port Angeles Fire Department responded with 11 personnel, including an engine, a medic unit, a duty chief, and ladder and utility crews.
Clallam County Fire District 2 responded with two personnel.
