The three Jefferson County commissioners will discuss two options for extending a moratorium against recreational marijuana businesses in unincorporated areas during a meeting Monday.
The meeting will begin at 9 a.m. in chambers at the county courthouse, 1820 Jefferson St., Port Townsend.
The moratorium took effect Aug. 11 and is set to expire Feb. 11.
Department of Community Development staff has requested an additional four months to study the issue and has put forth two alternatives: to extend the moratorium as is or to extend it with an exemption for larger parcels.
A third option, to allow the moratorium to lapse, also is on the table.
Items on the consent agenda include:
â– A resolution to cancel uncollectable personal property taxes.
â– A resolution to allow unprotected land in Jefferson County to be covered by Clallam County Fire District No. 3.
â– An agreement to allocate $98,595 to the Safe Harbor Recovery Center for alcohol and substance abuse treatment services.
â– An agreement to allocate $24,500 to the Tarboo Creek Riparian Restoration Project.
â– An agreement to allocate $3,000 for youth tobacco prevention.
Port Townsend city
The Port Townsend City Council will discuss expanding the board of the Fort Worden Public Development Authority during a council meeting Monday.
The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. in council chambers at historic City Hall, 540 Water St.
The current board has a maximum of nine members. If approved, that number would be increased to 11.
The request for the expansion originates from the current public development authority board.
Council office hours, during which members of the public can discuss any topic with a member of the City Council, take place from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday in the mayor’s office at historic City Hall.

Jefferson County Public Utility District commissioners will discuss establishing a drug-free-workplace policy at a meeting Tuesday.
The meeting begins at 5 p.m. at 250 Chimacum Road, Port Hadlock.
Jefferson Healthcare
Jefferson Healthcare hospital commissioners will hear an administrator’s update at a meeting Wednesday.
The meeting begins at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in the hospital auditorium, 834 Sheridan St., Port Townsend.
Marine resources
The Jefferson County Marine Resources Committee will meet in the Port of Port Townsend commissioners’ chambers, 333 Benedict St., Port Townsend, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
Speakers Steve Tucker and Al Cairns of the Port of Port Townsend will speak about their new BioChar stormwater filtration project. The public is welcome.
