EYE ON JEFFERSON: County mulls pact for window painting

The three Jefferson County commissioners are expected to approve the painting of windows in the Port Townsend Community Center at a meeting Monday.

The meeting will begin at 9 a.m. in commissioners’ chambers at the Jefferson County Courthouse, 1820 Jefferson St., Port Townsend.

Commissioners will consider allocating an additional $2,120 for Sabelhaus West Inc. of Silverdale to paint the windows of the building.

The amount amends a contract approved in August for Sabelhaus West to paint the exterior of the building for $35,842.

The item is on the consent agenda, so it is expected to be passed without discussion.

Other items on the consent agenda include:

■ A resolution to schedule a public hearing to discuss proposed third-quarter budget appropriations and extensions for various county departments, planned for 10 a.m. Oct. 6 at the Cotton Building, 607 Water St.

■ A call for bids for pursuit-rated sport utility vehicles for the Sheriff’s Office, to be accepted until 9:30 a.m. Oct. 13 and opened at 10 a.m., in commissioners’ chambers.

■ An agreement to award a bid for midsized hybrid sedans in the amount of $410,722 from Price Ford of Port Angeles.

The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in Room S-11 in the Gael Stuart Building, 1620 Blaine St.

The revision will move the cost of a new school bus to the 2014-15 school year. The funds were budgeted for the 2014-15 school year, but delivery of the bus has been delayed until October.

Port of Port Townsend

The Port of Port Townsend commissioners will discuss the first draft of the 2015 operations budget when it meets Wednesday.

The meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the port commission building, 333 Benedict St.

The proposal does not take into account any rate increases other than consumer price index adjustments for lease properties.

Port staff will prepare rate recommendations for the Oct. 8 commissioners’ meeting.

Commissioners will discuss the Five Things We Can Do Summit, planned from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 29 in the port commissioners’ building.

In January, several agencies developed lists. The port’s list included revisiting a joint economic strategy, exploring potential in the agricultural sector, infrastructure repair and improvement, a Quilcene strategic plan and the Jefferson County International Airport industrial park.

Chimacum schools

The Chimacum School Board will consider approval of board-operating procedures when it meets Wednesday.

The board will meet at 6 p.m. in the library of the high school at 91 West Valley Road.

The operating procedures set guidelines for board and superintendent, saying “since the line between policy making and administration is often unclear, teamwork is essential to bridge any uncertainty. Board members and the Superintendent must be willing to cooperate, keep personal differences from blurring the issues and share both credit and blame.”

The board also will hear a report on the superintendent search.
