EYE ON JEFFERSON: Conservation Futures to be discussed at county meeting

Jefferson County commissioners will consider setting an Oct. 1 hearing on Conservation Futures project applications when they meet at 9 a.m. Monday.

The meeting will be in commissioners’ chambers at the Jefferson County Courthouse, 1820 Jefferson St., Port Townsend.

An executive session is set for 10 a.m. t discuss strategy or position for collective bargaining.

Submitted for the 2018 funding round are applications for the Chimacum Forest, Dabob Bay Natural Area addition, Marrowstone Mize, Ruby Ranch presentation and Snow Creek Middle Reach Forest Protection projects.

Commissioners also will consider delaying a public hearing on a proposed commercial shooting facilities ordinance. The hearing originally was set for Sept. 24, but county staff said that the Port Townsend Leader, a weekly newspaper “failed to publish the hearing notice as submitted, thereby making it impossible to meet the publishing requirements” for a Sept. 24 hearing, according to the agenda item.

The hearing would be rescheduled for Oct. 1.

Commissioners also will consider agreement for control of noxious weeds in city right of way and a change order for the Salmon Creek Bridge-West Uncas Road project.

County/city

The Port Townsend Cty Council Ad Hoc Committee on Housing and the Jefferson County board of commissioners will continue discussions on interlocal agreements at 3 p.m. Monday.

The joint meeting will be at the Jefferson County Courthouse.

The group will consider a draft agreement between the city and county to support affordable housing and homeless housing programs, an interim homeless shelter agreement with Olympic Community Action Programs and a facilitator agreement.

Public comment will be taken.

Port Townsend City Council

The Port Townsend City Council will hear a presentation on 2018 revenue projections and preliminary 2019 revenue projections when it meets at 6:30 p.m. Monday.

The meeting will be in council chambers at historic City Hall, 540 Water St.

The council also will consider amending business licensing regulations. The changes would add an exemption and add a requirement for businesses located outside city limits.

It will consider amending council rules of procedure for committees, boards, work groups and commissions.

The Ad Hoc Committee on Housing will meet at 3 p.m. Thursday, in council chambers at 540 Water St.

Port Townsend schools

The Port Townsend School Board has a meeting scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

The board usually meets in the Gael Stuart Building, 1610 Blaine St.

Public Utility District

Jefferson County Public Utility District commissioners will discuss a 2019 tax levy when they meet at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

The meeting will be at 63 Four Corners Road.

Commissioners also will discuss additional street lighting rate, consider a contract award with Design Space Modular Buildings, Inc., and hear a presentation on a schematic design for the consolidated operations facility.

Jefferson Healthcare

Jefferson Healthcare commissioners will hear a presentation on emergency preparedness when they meet from 2:30 p.m. to 5:10 p.m. Wednesday.

The special meeting will be in the Victor J. Dirksen Conference Room on the first floor of 834 Sheridan St.

Commissioners also will acknowledge the employee of the quarter, receive the patient story, receive public comment and hear report on finances and quality and from the administrator and chief medical officer. Action is expected to be taken.

East Jefferson Fire-Rescue

East Jefferson Fire-Rescue commissioners usually meet on the third Wednesday of the month, which would be this coming Wednesday at 5:30 pm. at Station 1-5, 35 Critter Lane, Port Townsend.

Development authority

The Fort Worden Public Development Authority executive committee will hear updates on Makers Square and glamping when it meets at 9 a.m. Tuesday.

The meeting will be in Seminar Building 298 at Fort Worden.

Fire District 3

Clallam County Fire District 3 commissioners will hear a facility maintenance budget forecast when they meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday.

They meet at 323 N. Fifth Ave., in Sequim.

The district covers the east side of Clallam County with a small portion in Jefferson County.
