The three Jefferson County commissioners will conduct an executive session discussing exemptions to the state Open Public Meetings Act when they meet Tuesday.
The closed session will follow an open meeting that will begin at 9 a.m. in commissioners’ chambers at the Jefferson County Courthouse, 1820 Jefferson St., Port Townsend.
During the open session, commissioners will consider sending letters of thanks to the state congressional delegation for supporting reauthorization of the Secure Rural Schools and the Self-Determination Act.
They also will consider approving a $28,000 annual contract with Joost Besijn as the coordinator for the noxious weed control program. The item is on the consent agenda
Other items on the consent agenda include:
â– An agreement allowing use of Rural Arterial Trust Account funds for 90 percent of the $500,000 needed for South Discovery Road pavement preservation.
â– An agreement allowing use of Rural Arterial Trust Account funds for 90 percent reimbursement of the $104,000 used to make an emergency repair of Dosewallips Road.
â– An agreement with Howard and Peggy Doi to serve as Oak Bay Park camp hosts. The county will pay for electric, water and garbage service, while the Dois will pay for propane, septic and phone service.
Port Townsend city
The Port Townsend Planning Commission will review the 2016 Comprehensive Plan when it meets Thursday.
The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. in council chambers, 540 Water St.
No action is expected to be taken.
The Port Townsend City Council does not meet this week.
Council office hours, during which members of the public can discuss any topic with a member of the City Council, take place from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday in the mayor’s office at historic City Hall, 540 Water St.
Other city meetings are:
■Parks, Recreation and Trees Advisory Board — 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, first-floor conference room, City Hall, 250 Madison St.
■Climate Action Committee — 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Cotton Building, 607 Water St.
Port Townsend schools
The Port Townsend School Board will hear an update about the Maritime Discovery Schools Initiative when it meets Tuesday.
The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in the Gael Stuart Building, 1610 Blaine St.
The board also will hear reports on the transportation plan for the next school year and review some elements of curriculum.
It will consider approving policies concerning waiver of high school graduation credits and is expected to accept the resignation of Walker Wilson, Blue Heron Middle School girls basketball coach and high school assistant coach for boys basketball.
Chimacum schools
The Chimacum School Board will consider a proposal for a closed campus, requiring students to stay on campus throughout the school day, when it meets Wednesday.
The School Board will meet at 6 p.m. in the library of the high school at 91 West Valley Road.
The proposal is to close the campus to all but seniors during the 2015-16 school year and close it to all students the following school year.
The board also will consider raising prices for meals.
Port of Port Townsend
Port of Port Townsend commissioners will discuss termination of the Townsend Bay Marine lease when they meet Wednesday.
The meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. in commissioners’ chambers at 333 Benedict St.
Port Townsend Shipwrights has agreed to purchase Port Townsend Marine, which has a lease with the port.
Commissioners also will hear boatbuilder Bob Cunningham’s idea for development plans.
