BUSINESS BRIEFS: Homebuyer 101 class offered in Sequim this Saturday . . . and other items

SEQUIM — Evergreen Home Loans, 542 N. Fifth Ave., Suite 2-B, will host a free homebuyer education class from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

The featured speakers will be Michele Adkisson of Evergreen Home Loans and Andrea Gilles of Professional Real Estate.

Seating is limited.

Lunch and refreshments will be provided.

The event is sponsored by the Washington State Housing Finance Commission.

Agent of the Month

PORT ANGELES — Marc and Pat Thomsen, aka “Team Thomsen,” of Coldwell Banker Uptown Realty have been named the company’s Agent of the Month for October.

The award is attained by producing the highest amount of real estate business transactions in one month’s time.

Company changes

PORT ANGELES — Green Crow, a company specializing in the timberland and wood products industries, recently celebrated 30 years of doing business and had several employees set retirement dates for this year.

Larry Blydenstein retired in January after 23 years as the lead in the accounting department, the controller and, most recently, chief finance officer.

Tyler Crow has assumed the position of chief finance officer.

Crow worked on the summer crew in 1992 and started with the company in 2001.

He is a third-generation owner/manager.

Rhonda Nydegger, who was most recently employed by Green Diamond Resource Co. in Shelton, came to Green Crow in December of 2013 and has been promoted to chief accounting officer and comptroller.

Nydegger is a CPA who received her Bachelor of Science in accounting at Central Washington University and comes with over 20 years of experience in the accounting field.

This December, Harry Bell will retire.

Bell has been the director of environmental affairs for Green Crow since he joined the team in 1992.

Taking over this role as company representative is Jenny Knoth.

Knoth is a University of Washington graduate with a doctorate in forest resources.

She joined Green Crow in August and is working closely with Bell as he prepares for his departure.

Kurt Hansen has been promoted to manager of Green Crow Properties, Construction and Investments.

Hansen, who has been with Green Crow since March of 2014, is the former owner and manager of Hansen Homes, a builder of custom homes.

Don Coventon is assuming management of the Port Angeles Rock Pit Operations.

Coventon will remain the log procurer for Green Crow, a position he has held since 1990.

Second segment: Mike Howe, director of communications for the Clallam County Public Utility District.
