SEQUIM –– Two drivers hospitalized after Sunday’s two-car crash west of Sequim have been released from Olympic Medical Center in Port Angeles, hospital officials reported Tuesday afternoon.
A 12-year-old girl flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for treatment of injuries suffered in the crash has not been identified by the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office. Her condition is unknown.
Under investigation
The 8:30 p.m. wreck is under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office traffic unit, said Sgt. John Hollis.
Drivers Patricia J. Conway and Luis F. Onofre-Tinoco, both of Sequim, were taken to OMC after suffering what Hollis called “life-threatening injuries” in his report filed Monday evening.
Hollis said Onofre-Tinoco drove his Ford Contour eastbound through the intersection of Kitchen-Dick and Woodcock roads, pulling in front of Conway’s northbound GMC Envoy, which then hit the Ford, causing it to roll over into a yard at the intersection’s northeast corner.
Passenger trapped
Onofre-Tinoco was able to escape his car, but his juvenile passenger was trapped.
Rescue crews cut the 12-year-old out of the overturned car before airlifting her to Harborview.
Conway’s SUV ran off the road and hit a power pole, Hollis’ report said.
Hollis said there is no suspicion either driver was under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
