Artist in residence speech among Peninsula activities

A talk by Peninsula College’s artist in residence and a lecture in Port Townsend focused on UFOs are among activities on the North Olympic Peninsula on Thursday.

FORKS

Bingo night

FORKS — West End Sportsmen will host bingo night at 7 p.m. Thursday.

The fundraiser will be at the club at 243 Sportsmen’s Club Road.

Proceeds will benefit hunter education program and the annual Kids’ Fishing Day.

Books and Cookies

CLALLAM BAY — The North Olympic Library System will host Books and Cookies at 2:45 p.m. Thursday.

The free program for fifth- and sixth-grade students is at Clallam Bay Library, 16690 state Highway 112.

Studium Generale

PORT ANGELES — Ceramics artist Scott McClellan will speak at 12:35 p.m. Thursday.

McClellan’s lecture is part of the Studium Generale series in the Little Theater at Peninsula College, 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd.

A reception is planned in the Pirate Union Building Gallery of Art after the lecture.

McClellan, the college’s artist in residence, has a solo show “Rest and Silence” on display through Thursday.

SEQUIM

Arts meeting

SEQUIM — The Olympic Peninsula Art Association will meet at 9:30 a.m. Thursday.

The association meets at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 525 N. Fifth St.

The association will conduct a brief business meeting then exchange Artists’ Trading Cards and eat a potluck lunch.

Attendees should bring a dish to share and plate and utensils for themselves.

Elks bingo

SEQUIM — Sequim Elks will host bingo games from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday.

Games will be at the Sequim Elks lodge, 143 Port Williams Road.

Admission is free with a minimum buy-in of $10.

Players must be 18 years or older.

Proceeds will go to Elks scholarship programs, other charities and lodge operating expenses.

PORT HADLOCK

Art and music

PORT HADLOCK — An art and music meditation program is planned from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday.

The free, adult program will be at the Jefferson County Library, 620 Cedar Ave.

The program will begin with a short inspirational reading followed by a hands-on painting session with peaceful music.

All materials will be provided but space is limited so participants must register in advance.

UFO lecture

PORT TOWNSEND — James Clarkson will present “UFO Reality in the Pacific Northwest” from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday.

Clarkson’s lecture is at the Port Townsend Public Library, 1220 Lawrence St.

Clarkson is the author of “Tell My Story — June Crain, the Air Force & UFOs.”
