Applications accepted now for fiber art exhibit

PORT ANGELES — Calling all fiber artists: Applications are now being accepted for a fiber art exhibition coming to Port Angeles in September.

The non-juried exhibit, sponsored by Cabled Fiber &Yarn, will be held Sept. 9-30 at Studio Bob, 118½ E. Front St.

It will be open from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9; noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 10; and Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 23-24, during the Arts &Draughts Festival.

The exhibit acts as an extension of the annual North Olympic Fiber Arts Festival, which occurs every year in Sequim starting in October.

“We define fiber art very loosely,” said MarySue French, one of the exhibit’s organizers.

Last year, a wide swath of fiber art included spinning, felting, weaving, quilting, painted silk, knitting, crochet, costumes, fiber paintings, fiber sculptures, needle-punched rugs, driftwood art and jewelry.

Artists can submit up to three original pieces for a $4 hanging fee for each.

Application forms are available at Cabled Fiber &Yarn, 125 W. First St., and online at www.cabledfiber.com. You can bring art pieces to Studio Bob on Friday, Sept. 8, or to Cabled Fiber by arrangement.
