Blues guitarist to play two shows in Jefferson County

PORT TOWNSEND — Blues guitarist Terry Robb will be in Jefferson County for two shows this weekend.

He will play at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the Palindrome at Eaglemount Cidery, 1893 S. Jacob Miller Road in Port Townsend, and he also will perform for Concerts in the Woods at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Laurel B. Johnson Community Center, 923 Hazel Point Road in Coyle.

Tickets for Saturday are $20 per person online at www.ticketstorm.com/e/29634/t/or $25 at the door.

Admission to Concerts in the Woods is by a recommended donation of $20.

Robb is considered to be one of the finest acoustic guitarists in the world. His fingerpicking style is part of a blues sound that incorporates elements from Delta blues, ragtime, country, swing and jazz.

Born in British Columbia, raised in the United States and currently residing in Portland, Ore., Robb has released 15 albums.

“Confessin’ My Dues,” his latest album, earned the 2020 Blues Music Award nomination for Acoustic Blues Album.

Over the past four decades, he has performed with John Fahey, Eddy “The Chief” Clearwater, Maria Muldaur, Ike Willis, Henry Vestine, Buddy Guy, Steve Miller, Robin Trower, Ramblin’ Rex and Curtis Salgado.

He also has shared the stage with such superstars as B.B. King, Albert Lee, Joe Cocker, Bo Diddley, John Hiatt, David Crosby, George Thorogood, Leo Kottke and Johnny Winter.

In 2011, the Cascade Blues Association renamed its Muddy Award for Best Acoustic Guitar to the “Terry Robb” Acoustic Guitar Muddy Award in recognition of the fact that no one else had won the award since its inception in 1992.
