Port Angeles Community Players to stage ‘Rumors’

PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles Community Players’ production of “Rumors” will open with performances at 7:30 p.m. Fridays, Saturdays and Tuesdays and matinees at 2 p.m. Sundays through May 19.

The play, written by Neil Simon, will be on the main stage at the Port Angeles Community Playhouse, 1235 E. Lauridsen Blvd.

Tickets are $18 per person, $9 for students and can be purchased online at www.pacommunityplayers.org or at the box office 30 minutes before each performance.

Timothy Thorn will direct the farce, which starts with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the deputy mayor of New York.

As party guests Ken Gorman, played by Mark Valentine, and his wife Chris, played by Mary Kaye O’Brien, arrive, the ensuing scramble to get the story straight provides plenty of hilarity.

Other cast members include Zach Wiedenhoeft, Rebecca Gilbert, Richard Stephens, Tara DuPont, Justin Stapleton, Dana Duffy, Rick Mischke and Wesley Vollmer.

Neil Simon is well-known for writing comedies like “The Odd Couple,” which was performed by the community players in 2016, and “Barefoot in the Park,” which the players staged in 2019; “Rumors,” written in 1988, was Simon’s first farce.
