SEQUIM — The Sequim boys basketball team bounced back from its first loss of the year last week with a resounding 68-40 win over Kingston on Friday.
The Wolves looked like they were in trouble at halftime, down 27-26 against the Buccaneers. But they completely dominated the second half, outscoring Kingston 42-13 over the final 16 minutes.
Leading the way for the Wolves was Jericho Julmist, who hit three 3-pointers and scored 25. Ethan Melnick also hit three 3-pointers and scored 15, while Jamison Gray had a solid game with 10 points.
Sequim (7-1, 11-1) next hosts North Mason (4-4, 7-6) at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

North Mason 68, Port Angeles 67, OT
BELFAIR — Port Angeles’ tough season continued with another heartbreaking loss, this time 68-67 in overtime to North Mason.
North Mason hit a pair of free throws with no time on the clock to win the game.
Port Angeles’ Gus Halberg hit a pair of free throws with 9.2 seconds left in regulation to tie the game at 60-60. With four seconds left, a North Mason player plowed over Halberg standing at the free-throw line trying to draw a charge and the ref originally called a block on Halberg. In a huge break for the Riders, after an officials’ conference, the call was changed and no foul was called, sending the game to overtime.
Keatyn Hoch scored seven straight points to open the overtime, including a clutch baseline 3-pointer with 2:42 left. The Riders held a 67-66 lead with 1:18 left in overtime.
North Mason had a chance for a go-ahead bucket on a fast break, but Matthew Miller came from behind and knocked the ball away with 20 seconds left.
The Bulldogs had one more chance with a potential game-winning shot right at the buzzer, but the North Mason shooter was knocked down. With no time left on the clock, the Bulldogs sank a pair of free throws to pull out the win.
It was the third game this year the Riders have lost (or was tied) at the buzzer and the third one-possession game they’ve lost this year.
Port Angeles (1-7, 5-9) plays Eisenhower High School at Seattle Pacific University in a special Martin Luther King Jr. game at 1:15 p.m. Monday.
East Jefferson 65, Vashon 46
CHIMACUM — The East Jefferson boys basketball team got huge games from John Mercado and Luke O’Hara, pulling away in the second half to beat Vashon 65-46 on Friday.
The Rivals outscored Vashon 39-22 in the second half. O’Hara scored 29 points to go with seven rebounds and Mercado had 27 points to go with six rebounds. Dillon Page-Castillo added eight rebounds.
East Jefferson (1-0, 5-7) hosted Cascade Christian on Saturday and then plays at powerhouse Annie Wright (3-0, 13-1) on Monday.

Neah Bay 75, N. Mason 47 Neah Bay 64, Crescent 42
NEAH BAY — The Neah Bay boys basketball team swept a pair of games this weekend, beating North Mason 75-47 on Saturday and Crescent 64-42 on Friday.
Daniel Cumming led the Red Devils with 17 points and 11 rebounds, while Seactis Woodruff had 17 points and eight rebounds. Mathias Greene shot 3-for-7 on his 3-pointers for nine points, while Jodell Wimberly and LeAnthony Jimmicum also scored nine each.
The Red Devils also got a tough game from Crescent.
“The guys really battled hard. Neah Bay is very talented and they were able to hold us at arms length for most of the game. We were able to do some good things, we just had our struggles with turnovers and missed shots and the second half we kind of ran out of steam,” said Crescent coach Chris Ferrier. “Hats off to The Red Devils, they played a very sound game and controlled the tempo. It felt more competitive than some of our games with them the last couple seasons, even if the score doesn’t show it.”
Henry Bourm led the Loggers in scoring with 14, while Levi Bourm had 12.
For the Red Devils, Makyah Chambers led the team with 18 points and eight rebounds, while Seactis Woodruff had 11 points and Daniel Cummings nine points and seven rebounds.
Crescent (1-1, 7-7), goes to Chief Kitsap on Wednesday. Neah Bay (2-0, 10-3) plays at Chief Leschi at 7 p.m. today.
