PREP BASEBALL: Sequim, Forks both win big

TACOMA — The Sequim baseball team won its third straight, riding a nine-run third inning to crush Mount Tahoma on Friday 15-4.

With the victory, the Wolves evened their season record to 4-4.

Several Sequim players had big games as the Wolves pounded out 14 hits. Ethan Staples was 3-for-5 with a double, four RBIs and two runs scored. Brayden White hit a triple, drove in three runs, scored two runs and got on base two other times after being hit by pitches.

Ayden Holland had a double, three runs scored, an RBI and got on base twice on walks. Zeke Schmadeke was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two stolen bases. Lincoln Bear was 2-for-4 with an RBI and and Logan Doyle was 2-for-4 with a run scored and two RBIs.

Five Sequim pitchers each pitched one inning, allowing just two hits while striking out six. Lincoln Bear was awarded the victory. Schmadeke, Brayden White and Staples all pitched scoreless innings.

Sequim (2-4, 4-4) has a big game coming up against Olympic Peninsula rival Port Angeles (4-1, 8-2) at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Civic Field.

Forks 13, Port Angeles JV 2

PORT ANGELES — The Forks Spartans baseball team got a big day from Gunner Rogers in winning its third game in a row Saturday in a nonleague affair 13-2 over the Port Angeles JV.

Rogers was 4-for-5 with a double, three RBIs and a run scored. He also pitched three innings, striking out two and not allowing any hits.

Aidan Salazar pitched three innings, allowing two hits and an earned run. He scored three runs and drove in one for the Spartans.

Landin Davis was 2-for-5 wih two runs scored and two RBIs, whil Landen Olson had a hit, three runs scored and two RBIs. Jeremy Hutto had a double, a run scored and an RBI.

For the Port Angeles JV, Ian Smithson had a hit, a run scored, an RBI and two walks, while Brandt Petty had a hit and an RBI.

Forks (7-2 overall) plays a doubleheader next Friday at Ocosta.

The Port Angeles JV (8-2 overall) plays at 4 p.m. Tuesday against the Sequim JV in Port Angeles.
