CLEARWATER — A member of a pioneer West End family was killed while on the job clearing brush for the Department of Natural Resources.
The body of Sam Gaydeski of Beaver was found in the late evening Monday. He apparently was killed by the blade of his brush cutter, said Jefferson County Sheriff’s Chief Criminal Deputy Joe Nole.
The incident occurred on the West End of Jefferson County near Clearwater.
Gaydeski was clearing weeds near the side of a DNR road, he said.
Although the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office was investigating, the death appeared to be an accident, Nole said.
In addition to the Sheriff’s Office investigation, the state Department of Labor and Industries would also have an investigation, Nole said.
Gaydeski is a nephew of former Clallam County Commissioner Lawrence Gaydeski.
