PORT TOWNSEND — The Northwest Maritime Center will celebrate the opening of its new welcome center from noon to 6 p.m. Thursday.
The welcome center is in the maritime center’s former chandlery at 431 Water St.
The grand opening will include snacks and store discounts. Staff and board members from the maritime center will be on hand to answer questions and share information about the project.
The new welcome center includes exhibits on Port Townsend’s maritime history, maritime culture, on the maritime center’s programs and a space for retail.
The welcome center will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
