Two taken to hospital after collision blocks Highway 112

PORT ANGELES — Two people were transported to Olympic Medical Center after a two-car collision that blocked both lanes of state Highway 112.

Travis E. Waddell, 40, of Port Angeles was driving a 2007 Frontline truck southbound on Peters Road about 3:52 p.m. Monday when he turned onto eastbound Highway 112, the State Patrol said.

Waddell failed to yield, and the second vehicle, a 1989 Toyota pickup driven by Justin R. Gilbert, 35, of Port Angeles struck the trailer towed by the Frontline, the State Patrol said.

Both lanes of Highway 112 were blocked.

Gilbert and Jeremiah E. Rodriguez, 29, of Port Angeles, a passenger in the Toyota, both were transported to Olympic Medical Center.

Both were wearing seat belts, the State Patrol said.

Waddell was not injured. He also was wearing a seat belt, the State Patrol said.

Neither drugs nor alcohol were suspected, the State Patrol said.

The Frontline had non-reportable damage and was driven from the scene. Its trailer did have reportable damage but was driven from the scene, the State Patrol said.

The Toyota was totally destroyed and towed by Chris Towing, the State Patrol said.
